Dear Friend;
The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley is pleased to Co-Sponsor a very worthwhile
event called “Buckles and Barrels for Bailey”.
The purpose of this event is to raise money to buy much-needed equipment
for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of
Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. The idea for the event arose out of
the experiences of our Kiwanis Club
Member Marla Steven’s, and her husband Patrick, after their daughter
Bailey was born on July 8th, 2010 and survived her unexpected ordeal,
that was a Blessing from God !
Bailey developed a severe bacterial infection shortly after birth, and had to
undergo emergency surgery for a ruptured bowel.
She survived the surgery, losing 70% of her small intestine, and was
hospitalized and on a feeding tube for 108 days.
During that time the staff of the NICU became like family to Bailey and
her parents.
As Marla says, “They
were there when we cried, worried, laughed and celebrated. They have become
family to us.
They were with us 24 hours a day and when we couldn't be there they sent us
pictures and updates.
They bought her jammies , made bows for her hair and rocked her when she cried.
They listened to us as we worried,
hugged us when we cried and most important loved Bailey like she was their own.”
The Steven’s want to give back to the NICU (which didn’t even have a crib for
Bailey when she got too big for the incubator unit),
by purchasing much-needed equipment.
They are organizing a Barrel Race at the South Point Casino -
Equestrian Event Center,
on November 17 –20, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada and are
expecting to attract 500 barrel racers entries a day, from across the country.
As Co-Sponsor of this event, the net proceeds after the event payout and
the donations collected by The
Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley Foundation, a 501(c) 3 Public Charity, EIN
16-1683542, the funds will be used to purchase equipment,
that will be donated to the Spring Valley Hospital NICU.
Our goal is to help raise $ 50,000.00 from this event !
With this letter, we are asking if you could find it in your heart, to donate to
this worthwhile cause and send or give your donations by check,
made out to The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley Foundation,
Memo:
